Oscars 2008

Com a febre que ficou de um possível cancelamento da entrega de prémios mais esperada de todo o ano, com o final da greve as espectativas continuaram a surgir e a corrida aos cinemas para ver os nomeados marcou-se como imprescindível.

A sensivelmente um dia do início da gala, tenho a dizer que me é extremamente complicado fazer um veredicto dos filmes que fui vendo este ano e as quais foram entregando um valor inacreditável ao cinema contemporâneo.

No entanto, e como sempre, houve falhas que penso não saber perdoar. David Cronenberg no seu filme Eastern Promises, como uma das melhores obras que já vi nos últimos anos, conseguiu o feito de sair impune de nomeações. Jodie Foster com a sua participação no filme The Brave One de Neil Jordan foi esquecida com o impacto de obras mais recentes, enclipsada por outras representações magníficas mas que a meu ver mereceram tanto a nomeação como ela merecia. Também Paul Dano em There Will be Blood, o mesmo que iluminou a meu ver o filme Little Miss Sunshine há uns tempos atrás foi injustamente esquecido. Mas todos os anos este desconforto repete-se. E filmes que são magníficos não serão nunca esquecidos.
